Does anyone else do this?
I wonder if this is a weird bit of narcissism on my part, or if anyone else does this.
Usually when I read a story, I try to visualize the action. It's almost like I'm trying to adapt it into a movie. What someone would wear, which way they would face, what the scenery would look like, and so on.
That's not what I'm wondering about. Mrs. Bart has already told me that's weird.
When I read my daily comics, which are pretty much limited to Dilbert and Get Fuzzy, I don't have to visualize it. It's already drawn. Instead what I do is I try to imagine how it would sound if the characters were saying their lines. The only problem: they all have my voice. I don't give Dilbert one voice, and Wally another, and Dogbert another. It's all Bart-voice. Same thing with Get Fuzzy. The cat, the dog, and the human all have the same Bart-voice.
I'm going to go ahead and assume it's weird that I try to "hear" the dialog. But, is it weird that I use the same voice for all the characters?
Incidentally, I think that's why I wasn't too into the Dilbert cartoon, and I never watch or listen to the animated strips on the Dilbert web site. They all have different voices, none of which is mine, and I can't get past it.

This reminds me of a question Karl Pilkington had on a Ricky Gervais podcast about when Stephen Hawking thinks to himself, are the thoughts in his head in that robot voice.
Maybe it's in his pre-robot voice. Except after a while, he can't remember what it sounded like, so he imagines he sounded like Hugh Grant.
